About Marie

I’ve been creating with my hands since I was a child. Knitting, beadwork, sewing, and quilting became my lifelong companions. With each new experience, I delight in the endless possibilities of complex forms and brilliant tones.

When I moved to Oregon nearly forty ago, I discovered two new passions: birding and basketry. “In Honor of the Winged Nation” is the basket series that combines those two loves by celebrating the colors and designs of the birds that live around me.

A bookkeeper by trade, I appreciate the order and beauty of mathematics. This is reflected in my basket patterns. Each time I walk in nature, I witness more of that remarkable order: the beauty inherent in the natural environment, the play of light and shadow, and each element balancing with the harmony of the whole.

My goal is to create beautiful baskets that will inspire you and generations after you as nature inspires me.
